Before the beginning, there was Bahamut. Benevolent and true,
Bahamut was good. At his core, Bahamut was a creative being, and he
desired to bring into existence endless worlds that would reflect
and display his goodness. And so he breathed, and the heavens came
into being.
Through truth, Bahamut decided that it would be best
to not be alone as he ruled the heavens. He began to sing, and his
voice filled the cosmos. As he sang, he was joined by new voices
that followed in rapturous harmonies. Coming onto creation were the
Esconil – the eight essences with whom Bahamut would hold together
the very fabric of his creation. There were four elements – air,
earth, fire, and water – and four powers – order, chaos, life, and
